One of the things I like the most is the seasons changing.
My favourite season is autumn, but it’s hard to choose! There are lovely things about each of them, and one of the nicest things is the seasons changing. It has a kind of bittersweetness to it, that the previous season is over and a new one is beginning.
Going out for a bit of a walk around the village at this time of year, the colours are different. There are obvious things, like flowers and green leaves, but it all feels different. The light is different and the sky is a warmer blue.
I find it impossible to go outside and not feel inspired, whatever the season and whatever the weather! It has been a while since summer was last here, so I felt it was time to do one of my favourite things again and make some more colour schemes!
Sometimes it’s nice to leave the phone at home when I go out for a walk. It’s good to feel unreachable, even if it’s only for half an hour! On the other hand, I like being able to take photos with my phone, and thanks to Google photos, it’s very easy to get to the photos onto the computer.
I haven’t decided yet whether I will do anything with the colour schemes. I enjoyed making them, and I’ve got them now if ever I need some ideas for colours for a project.
The Colour Schemes
These hollyhocks were growing in somebody’s front garden round the corner from my house.
I took this photo on one of my favourite walks around the village. I used smaller pixels, because I particularly liked the colours of the flowers.
A fallen branch on another muddy footpath near where I live. I liked how the light was falling through the trees, which is why I took the photo.
I went for smaller pixels with the poppies too, so that there would be plenty of reds to choose from.
I didn’t even have to leave home for this photo!
A few years ago, my husband got me this pretty maple that has pink leaves in the spring, green in summer and orange in the autumn. It lives in a pot, and unfortunately, while we were on holiday, there was a hot spell and the poor thing died. I couldn’t bear to throw its twiggy remains, so I kept it in the hope that maybe it wasn’t really dead.
I often have this hope with plants, and I’ve found that usually, if they look dead, they are dead.
But this time, quite a few months later, a tiny little shoot appeared at the base of the dead plant, and now, a year or two further on, it’s flourishing!
I can’t tell you how happy it makes me! And it will be sitting in a massive bucket of water when we go on holiday next week!
I went a little bit further afield in the next two photos. I took them both (along with a lot of others!) in the botanical gardens in Cambridge. The gardens are very nice. Kids are free and there is a cafe. It’s worth a visit if you are in Cambridge and you like gardens.
I love all the greens in this photo.
Lavender is always lovely. Pixelating the photo meant I noticed how the colours in the the shed complemented the colours of the lavender.

I love these! Color is my favorite thing. (Ask my family and friends; they’ll tell you that I’m rather fussy about what goes with what! π ) Thank you for showing this great idea.
