At the end of July, we went on holiday to Montenegro. To be completely honest now, when I agreed to it, I didn’t actually know where Montenegro was. I think I might got it mixed up with San Merino. The extent of my geographical knowledge is limited to watching Eurovision with an atlas on my lap, and I would need a few minutes to find even countries I have visited!
As well as not being entirely sure where it was, I didn’t realise that Montenegro was entirely mountainous. Its name only draws attention to one mountain, and as far as I am aware, San Merino has just one mountain. You can see why I got into a muddle!
Visiting a country is the best way to learn about it (even if I still struggle to find it on a map!), and Montenegro was interesting. We visited several places that had an old walled town usually on top of a hill. The country was an interesting combination of Mediterranean (some of it was like Italy; other bits were like how I imagine Turkey to be) and eastern European. Every tiny village has at least one melon stand, just like in Slovakia and Poland!
My favourite place was Lake Skadar. It’s a big lake to the south of the country, with some of it in Albania. It was beautiful, very peaceful, with lots of birds and lots of fish. A couple of times we went out on a boat in the early evening, and the colours were beautiful. Even earlier in the day it was lovely.
As you can imagine, I took lots of pictures, and when we got home, I decided to indulge my latest obsession and make colour schemes from some of the photos.
If you want to learn how to do this yourself, Crafted Colours: Creating Colour Schemes From Photos is an entirely free mini course that shows you how. If you pop your email address into the little box in the side bar, I’ll send it to you π
