Some leaf paintings after the reel last week 🍁🍂

I think I like the unrealistic colours the most!

If you didn't see the reel, I drew round some leaves with a waterproof pen, put water on it with a paintbrush, then sploshed watercolour paint on it. It's an easy, low risk thing to do if you feel inspired by autumn leaves to make something.

Doing a few takes the pressure off getting the first one perfect. Why do we do that?? Things usually get better with practice, when we've had a chance to try things out and make some mistakes. I only did 5, but they definitely got better.

Drawing round the leaf feels safer than drawing it freehand.

Wet in wet watercolour is unpredictable, so we can't have complete control over the results.

Using a different colour scheme means that the painted leaf won't look much like the original, so it removes any expectations that it will.

None of the original leaves were perfect, but they were all beautiful and interesting to look at 🍁🧡🍁🍂
